Liveshare — User Guide

Liveshare is Pye Barker's internal spot for sharing web pages and documents you or an AI assistant have created — dashboards, reports, plans, decks, runbooks — as a simple link, without emailing files around. Upload an HTML or Markdown file, choose who can see it, and share the link.

Getting in

Publishing a page

  1. Drag a file onto the drop zone, or click it to browse.
  2. Pick who it's for, optionally allow downloads, then click Publish.
  3. You get a link to share. For private pages you'll also get a one-time password — copy it right then.

What you can upload

Tip — getting a file that works: Ask your AI assistant for a single, self-contained HTML file (“put everything in one file”). That's the format that displays perfectly. Keep pages reasonably lightweight; very large pages with big embedded images may not upload.

Visibility options

When you publish (or later, from Settings), you choose one of three audiences.

OptionWho can see itNotes
RestrictedYou, plus the specific people and groups you chooseOptional password for anyone else with the link. This is the default.
MembersEveryone who uses LiveshareShows in their list; no password needed.
CompanyAnyone at Pye Barker with the linkEven people who don't use Liveshare. No password. Requires a confirmation checkbox.

Restricted is the most common choice. Pick who should see it from the search box — they'll be able to open it and will see it in their own list. Everyone else is blocked, unless you also turn on a password.

Company is for things you're comfortable with anyone in the company seeing if they get the link (all-hands material, general announcements). You have to tick a confirmation box because it's the widest audience.

Privacy reminder: Liveshare keeps everything inside Pye Barker's environment, but it is not a vault. Treat any upload as though it could be seen more widely than you intend — don't put anything in Liveshare that would be a problem if it reached the wrong person.

Managing your pages

Each page you own has controls on its card.

Downloads

By default, viewers can only look at a page. To let people save the original file, tick “Allow viewers to download the original file” when publishing or in Settings — a Download button then appears in the viewer. You can always download your own files.

Tips & FAQ

My uploaded page shows an error instead of the content.

Ask your AI assistant for a single self-contained HTML file and re-upload. Liveshare handles most exported files automatically, but that format is the most reliable.

A file won't upload.

Check it's a .html or .md file and isn't extremely large. Very large pages (especially with big embedded images) may be rejected — ask for a lighter version.

Someone says they can't see my page.

Confirm the visibility: if it's Restricted, they need to be on the share list (or have the password). If they should be able to browse to it, Members is the right setting.

I lost the password to a restricted page.

Open Settings or click New password on the card to generate a new one, then re-share. Passwords can't be shown again after the first time.

Can I change who sees a page after publishing?

Yes — use Settings anytime. The link never changes.

Can I share with someone outside Pye Barker (e.g. a board member without a company account)?

Not today — Liveshare is for people who can sign in with a Pye Barker account. External sharing is a possible future addition.
